About Katie!
Katie’s love of animals started at a very young age with her dog Rosie. Her love of horses started when she was old enough to walk, and she started riding with her aunt in upstate New York. Her love bloomed into working with animals daily. Katie currently works at Loudoun Vet Services in Purcellville, VA as a Veterinary Technician and training her young Thoroughbred from the track, Hero. Katie grew up in the Virginia Region Pony Club and achieved her HB/C3 rating. This is where she found her love of eventing. She competed at the CCI** level in Eventing on her beloved mount Mojave Moon aka Moe and worked for eventing trainer Martha Wounder. Katie attended Vet Tech school at Northern Virginia Community College and graduated in 2019. Katie enjoys working with young horses off the track and brings along one at a time to help them find what they love to do and a person to do it with! Katie also teaching riding lessons at Twin Oaks Farm, in Lovettsville. She loves working with and inspiring the next generation of horse crazy kids (and adults) and has been teaching lesson for the last 6 years to a variety of levels and ages.

Katie has three dogs. During her time at Loudoun Vet Services, Katie has become interested in dog breeding and has helped deliver many litters of puppies, naturally and via cesarean. Breeders have entrusted Katie with the care of their dog mothers and puppies.

With her background in sport horses and small animal care, Katie obtained a certification in Equine and Canine massage, and is pursuing an Equine KT taping certification, figuring it involves everything she loves! Katie is very interested in sport horses and sports medicine to make sure our beloved horses can perform at their very best.
